400M Help Needed Very Basic

Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - llangbehn's Album: Lukes 1976 - Picture

So I just bought this truck and need some help. The guy told me that it has a 400m. Picture above. What I need to know is, this is a 1976 truck and the 400m wasnt factory. What years can I use to determine alternator and starter sizes?
Are there any factory service guides online that I can download.

any alt will work it usually has the amp rating stamped on the case by the top mounting bolt.

the starter should have a part# on the case or nose cone I think they are all the same for a 400
