wrong tank in my b2...
have 86 b2 2.9. has a 15 gal tank instead of the 23 it should have, fuel level not working, have new sending unit for a 23gal tank, will the readings be off if i use the 23gal sending unit in the 15 gal tank? i think the 15 is out of a ranger...thanks for your help.

I am not sure but I think the Ranger tanks where side tanks like the Explorer. I have read that folks posted they had 15 gallon tanks in the BII but some times it was just the sender reading they were empty when they still had fuel in the tank. As far as the sender you have working with the BII gauge, again I do not know. If the sender is made to work with the BII type gauge, I think it might work. All the sender does is read the level of fuel in the tank. I do not know if you can damage the gauge or not by hooking the wrong sender to your gauge. If not just hook the wires from the tank to the sender and move it through the range of motion (lift the float up and down and see where the gauge reads. Then just bend the wire holding the float the way needed to so it will be at the proper level to reflect the reading on the gauge. May not be any more info than you already have. Just do a search (Bing, Google, Yahoo, ect...) and see about matching resistance of the sending unit to the gauge. Good luck.
