Hi, I just recently picked an 85 f150 351 HO. The ac doesnt work, the ac compressor doesnt kick on, if I jump it, it does work. My issue is there is a lt green wire with a blue or purple stripe on it that comes from the switch on the accumulator and goes towrds the driver side of the engine bay, the harness tees off to the single light green wire w the stripe as described, and the other part of the harness goes to the compressor clutch. the green wire with the stripe in question has a plastic connecter end on it and is melted, where does this end go? I can't seem to find a wire diagram for this. Any help will be appreciated.
thankyou for the wire diagram. I see that the melted end goes to the solenoid, I am atrating to think that my switch is no good or like you said about the freon being low. Im going to go get the ac maifold gauge set and check it.
I bet the switch is doing it's job. It's called a "low pressure" switch and I bet you have low pressure. This switch also controls the cooling, and cycles the compressor on and off when the evaporator gets cold. The colder the freon gets, the lower the pressure it has, so it naturally controls the cooling of the system also.
