ok my problem im having is that when the truck is cold it seems to start up really good but once its warm....it doesnt wanna start back up again...now i rebuilt the carberator just basically cleaned it out really good...and when i did it, i found that it was missing the accelerator pump check ball...could this be my problem or is it something else...not sure exactly what it all does..but im about ready to go buy a new carberator just to see if it will cure my problems...does anybody out there have any other suggestions...appreciate anything u could think of...i know my timing is good checked it and re checked it..timing is good....and another thing is that i have to have the idle way up to keep it running too...
What year is your truck ? I had a similar problem with the 1bbl choke, which I just wired open (I know, not a very technical fix, but it worked). Warm the engine up, shut it off, remove the air cleaner and see if the choke is staying open or closed.
its a 1980...i was thinking possibly a choke issue also....i was gonna put a manual on it to test my theory but the piece is missing that holds the cable still on the carb so i didnt try it...now im at the delema of just buying the kit....buy a new electric choke or just shelling out the 90 bucks for a whole new carb and choke from autozone.....tell ya the truth im kinda sick of trying to figure it out......when i can just go buy a new carb with the choke assembly already set up....but im not sure yet maybe ill see what a manual choke assembly cost......i only need that one piece
