When I test drove it, the airbag light was on solid, not flashing. And also when I turn the wheel I feel and hear a rubbing or clicking noise. Dealership said they had no idea. Carfax report shows that there is an open recall on this truck to repair the clock spring. Would you say that if I get the recall performed on this truck (assuming I buy it) that it would solve the airbag light issue?
Otherwise the truck seems to drive well. Engine doesn't have the common 5.4L ticking. Trans. shifts well. Brakes feel great. Has the typical F-150 vibration at highway speeds. But overall seems like a nice truck. Interior is dirty and has a few rips in the fabric. Body overall is pretty good with a few scratches. Is $14,900 a fair price for this?
Hey there fellow Kentuckian. I would get a code reader if I were you and pull some codes to get a better idea of what you are working with. No idea on the clock spring. I had mine repaired under warranty, but I had no prior issues anyway. I would be cautious though. That model year is notorious for the faulty spark plugs and if they haven't been changed, they will need to be extremely soon. I know you said no ticking, but still be weary. As for the price, in my personal opinion it is high, buy of course that is to be expected. Considering the mileage, trim type and condition, I think $13k would be a little more fair, but again I am no expert.
Thanks for the info. My buddy who works at a local Ford dealership as a service tech. said the spark plugs can indeed become a nasty job, even with the special tools they use. He said the other issues would be cam phasers and possible 4WD system issues. This truck has none of those issues right now, but that doesn't mean it won't in the future. I am approaching this with caution. I appreciate the advice.
