Wanted to remove the Cats out of my truck for better performance/mileage and was wondering if doing so would help out at all and what I need to know beforehand. I am going to have someone do it for me but know there's some issues about back pressure and wanted to understand if taking the cats out would be helpful. Your opinions are greatly appreciated
Unlikely you'll get either unless you've got problems with them now. But you will get a CEL. You will need a chip or "MIL eliminator" which simulates the proper signal.
Removing them causes 1) more of a headache when it comes time to sell the truck 2) usually makes the truck louder, which make people seem to think they have more power 3)you ruining our environment.
We need to make this a sticky for all gasser owners. I'm no tree hugger, but there is NOTHING I hate more than listening to some dumb @$$ drive by at 1 am with straight pipes on his stock v8 truck. I own guns for this reason. Loud does not make it fast or cool, a great performance sounding exhaust does!!!
