[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Aug-02 AT 01:04 AM (EST)]I ran into my first real problem with the 95 tonight. I was driving along on the rear tank and I'm guessing the fuel pump quit, it was like I ran out of gas. The fuel guage also pegged at full at this time. Switched tanks, and everything worked fine on the front side. I'm also suspecting that fuel is cross-flowing into the rear tank, as I used over half a tank on the 30 mile drive home.
At first I thought the fuel pump died, but why would it peg the guage? And if it was a wiring problem, why would I have the cross-flowing problem? Bad selector valve?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Aug-02 AT 06:31 PM (EST)]Correct me if I'm wrong about how this system works. The newer models have a fuel delivery module in each tank, containing the pump and sender. Tank selection is controlled by the FDM that is selected, and there isn't a selector valve.
I think the check valve went bad on the rear pump, that's why it's filling that tank from the front. I also think the pump itself went bad, this is why it dies on the rear tank. But I can hear it come on when I turn the key on. I still don't understand why the guage would be grounded on the rear though.
So does it sound like I need a new rear fuel delivery module? What I don't understand is why the pump, check valve, and whatever in the guage all went bad at the same time.
