engine swap
I have a 2000 f150 5.4 4x4 auto with a bad engine, and have a 1997 f150 4.6 4x4 auto rolled but with strong engine. What would need to be done to replace the 5.4 with the older 4.6 engine?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use everything from the donor truck inluding the harness.
Basicly your going to using an ignition coil pak engine in place a coil over plug.
Transfer most everything and the issues should be min.
PATS is involved so you may have to use an 00 or 01 4.6 PCM and have a reprogramming done to take care of the Dash and keys, otherwise you won't be able to start the motor
The other difference is your 01 is heavier so the new motor won't be quite as lively being smaller in more weight.
