AC questions

I have an 84 F150 4WD 300-6 with manual 4spd ovd. It has a rebuilt 6 with about 100k on it and just shy of 250k on the truck.

The compressor looks original. Previous owner charged it each year and it cooled. Six years ago he bought a new truck and relegated this one to hunting and dump runs. I bought it last year. My son accidentally broke the valve off of the hose and all the remaining R12 was lost (I let him live!). I am going to convert it over to 134a (I have read all the posts) but I want to rebuild the compressor first. Is there any one still selling rebuild kits for compressors? I have a small machine shop and routinely fix things that other people don't or can't. I sometimes just make a part instead of trying to find one.

The compressor in my son's Shadow locked up on him last week and I may try to rebuild it also. (it was converted by a past owner)

I have a 66 mustang (six cyl) and a 69 Mach 1 (428CJ) to fix up and will put air in both.... some day!

Thanks

Dazzel
You can get a clutch and bearing kit for about 50.00 through :http://www.scottiesautoair.com/
they have gasket and seal kits also but you need to contact them for a price . you can also order a cataloge off there web site.

rebuuilt comp. can go for as low as 130 to about 180 with out the clutchs so inless you are just lookng for a project do a cost compaerision before you pull it apart.

how long has it been open to the atmosphere? if ats been quite dirt an MOISTURE are real bad A/C buddies.
