Hello All,
Just bought a 2003 X with the 6.0L in it. I noticed that there is nothing underneath to protect the engine bay from water when going through large puddles, etc. I am wondering if the X came with anything from the factory that is supposed to fit under there.
On a side note I have also noticed that I can not spin my tires even when going through a turn. This doesn't bother me as I could care less but it sounds like others don't have this issue. I don't feel like I am low on power but I have no reference so who knows. I do know the truck has a LSD so I am thinking that is why I am not spinning but wanted to make sure I'm not the only one.
spend time on the 6.0 forum, learning about your engine. There are upgrades and fixes you can/should do to your truck as the funds become avaliable. There is no splash guards under our trucks, or need for them.
Already spending most my time on the 6.0 side of the forum but I figured this question was X specific. Funds are available now, just need some good weather. The reason I was asking about the splash guard is I like to get the underbody wash done at the carwash after a nice snow/salt. Last time I went through my Alt light came on and oil light. I looked at the drive belt and it looks pretty bad so I will replace it soon but figured maybe I was missing something.
I have an LS in mine but it's a V10 and I can get a "chirp" on wet pavement but other than a handful of times when I really stomped it from a dead stop and got the chirp, I cannot get my tires to spin with the LS rear end. But that it what it is designed to do.
I would replace the serpenteen belt, check your ground wires, and consider a larger aftermarket alternator. The stock unit isn't big enough and could lead to other engine related problems. Digital gauges are needed to monitor the health of your engine.
I will check the grounds when im out working on the truck next. As for everything else I have just ordered a new OE belt, Blue spring, and coolant filter. Hopefully I will have the chance to install them all this weekend. For monitoring I have android Torque App with a bluetooh OBDII adapter. It seems to work pretty good but the refresh rate is a little slow.
