AOD Help - not shifting
question is - where do I hook up a line pressure gauge to a
Ford AOD?
Truck is a 90 F150, 302/AOD. Had to drop the tranny to change the
rear main seal and so while it was out I decided to install a
Trans-Go shift kit and A+ servo. Got it all back together and it
wouldn't shift out of 1st. I took the valve body back out, went
through the shift kit directions a second time and double checked
everything. Did it with a buddy who's done a few Trans-Go AOD kits
already. Couldn't find a thing wrong, but after having run the
tranny with the clean fluid, the valves all seemed to slide more
freely - thought it might have been just a sticking valve. Put the
valve body back in, same problem. We then checked the TV cable
adjustment, which seems pretty fool-proof compared to a Mustang, and
it seems okay.
Called Trans-Go (who were extremely helpful by the way) and they
said I really needed to put a gauge on it to see what the problem
was. But from the symptoms he was able to show me which valve (by
looking at the directions) he thought the problem to be and that I
should expect the pressure to go high. He was a little surprised
that I didn't change the shift points, since that would be the only
way I'd have messed with that valve.
Anyway, got the pressure gauge in and am hoping to hook it up today
after work and see what's happening with the pressure. Just don't
know how to hook it up.
Anyone got any ideas or comments?
