Ignition switch
Here is a new one. I started my truck today, and it did not start right awy, as usual...what i did notice, is that even though the key and switch had returned to the "on" position, there was no power to the dash or the accessories...I bumped the switch ever so slightly, and it came to life...tested again by starting the truck....and , while it was running, tap the key slightly back towards "off" the truck immeditely dies and no power to the dash...
I assume this is the switch (obviously), but i have never tried to replace one of these things...I assume there are two parts of this, the lock cylinder and the switch it connects to...
Would I be right in assuming its the switch and not the cylinder?
Has anyone ever done this replacement on this model truck (87 F150, with tilt)? and maybe could give me some tips?

Ignition switch
Disconnect the battery, Turn the key to the run position. there is a hole in the steering column that you put a nail or a awl thru to depress a pin and the key switch will then pull out.
My 92 did the same thing went to the dealer and got the key switch and door locks in a kit. Easy job takes longer to get the door panels off.

Ignition switch
I had a recall on my `88 F 150 for a faulty ignition switch. Ford replaced it free of charge , and I was the 4th owner of the truck!!
Look into it , it may be a recall issue , Ford should fix it , free of charge!

Ignition switch
The recall was on the actual ignition switch not the lock cylinder. Just to clarify for anyone who did not know. The actual ignition switch is mid way down the steering column, under the dash.
