lighted running boards

Can't find the answer on this. Does anyone know if you swap on an Excursion with non lighted running boards to the lighted kind will there be a socket somewhere in the wiring to connect to? It is hard to believe Ford would make different wiring looms for the different styles.
Thanks

Look around for the plug, also I put generic sockets and bulbs in mine that screwed right in to the receptacle and that was 3 years ago. They can get caked with mud and snow etc and still work, plus they cost about 1/4 of OEM.

After running on salt for 10 years the factory running boards fell off the truck. The factory running boards were lighted and didn't want to pay $1K for new factory boards. Bought new non lighted running boards which have aluminum frames instead of metal. My wife didn't like the idea of no lights so brought the rig to my mechanic. He installed green led strip lights below the front and rear doors. Picked green as it's my wifes favorite color. She's gotten a lot of compliments on the lights!

You can always rig some lights for it.

where did the pigtails from the running boards plug into. I have looked under the door sil and behind the kick panels. Got to be a matching plug somewhere in the left front area and the mid right rear.
Thanks

I would also love to know where to tap the harness for running board lights.

I was able to get under a EX that have running boards and notice that the right side board had wiring going from the rear right to the rear left and then the the left front went up into the engine area by the steering wheel. This was on a 2000 EX. Was not able to see where in the engine compartment the wiring went.
