So I'm putting in 6 new lights and was just wondering which fuse I could use, to power them. I came across fuse number 27 maybe? It says something along the lines of ignition run, customer access. Does that mean that would be a good spot for me to use the nothing else gets damaged just in case? Thanks :-) the truck now looks a little like it has alien eyes, or something. Kinda cool lol
Don't know what year model your truck is, but yes. Typically the customer access fuse is what you want to tie in to. There's typically a wire taped up, tied to the wiring harness that leads to your OBDII connector that is factory wired to this fuse. The end of the wire will be blank and have a heat shrink cap on it. The other option is to add fuses and a relay under the hood and use the pass thru wires Ford includes that go through the firewall so you can wire your switch up.
Awesome! Yeah sorry, Im on my phone, and this mobile theme is throwing me off a bit. 2001 Ex. Is there any other convenient ways to pass through the firewall, so I could retain the power wire+fuse+switch that was included with the lights? Or am I just better off making my own hole (keep in mind I don't trust my own weathersealing abilities)
After a few mudding trips, the entire engine has a layer of dirty water residue so everything is a bit harder to recognize. Thanks for the awesome answer though!
Do these fuses have customer access relays associated with them? I have never in my life tapped into these. Ive always run a distribution block for power fused off the battery them off the block and wired my own relays.
Also where are pass through wires typically?
