You can try cleaning or replacing your IAC but your fuel injectors can also cause a lean condition.
You might try having your injectors flushed before you start spending a bunch of money replacing parts.
It worked for me after chasing a lean running condition!
The IAC controls the idle speed, it should not cause a lean
code. The next thing I would do is check the fuel pressure.
The fuel pressure regulator, blocked fuel filter, or bad fuel
pump can cause low fuel pressure, resulting in a lean code.
I dont know If your truck has a MAF sensor if it does take it off and see if its dirty.THe wires should be silver not black.I just did this on my 95 T-Bird 3.8.This car has been giving me fits for the past year.I thought it was the fuel pump too .This repair took 3 hours research, $.10 cents carb cleaner $.10 cents Brake cleaner and 15 minutes to do. Dont touch the sensor. I just sprayed carb cleaner first to clean it then brake kleen to remove any residue then let it dry.Clear the codes and see what happens.I hope this helps.
Boy do i feel stupid. the whole deal was caued by a vaccum line not connected that goes to the IAC. All fine with the world now. thanks for responding anyway
