Put the transfer case in 4H or 4L and then lock the hubs and your good to go, make sure you turn the hubs all the way to lock otherwise it will still be 2wd. if you feel the tires grabbing as your turning then you know its in 4wd

To engage 4wd you 1) lock hubs... 2) shift t-case into 4wd
To disengage 4wd you 1) shift t-case into 2wd... 2) unlock hubs (this step isn't necessary, they can remain locked if you like).
In all reality the order in which you engage/disengage 4wd isn't all that important, though often times driveline bind will dictate you go in the order listed above.
(If the t-case is difficult to shift back into 2wd back the truck up in reverse about 10 feet to relieve driveline bind)
