Hey guys im new to this site and also somewhat new to diesels. Now i do have some knowledge about them because a couple of my buddies have them.
I have 2001 7.3 powerstroke 4x4 and it sounds like it randomly 'misses' when im giving it throttle and it gets around the 2000-2300 rpm range but when I let out of the pedal it stops. The weird thing about it is, it was chipped and I thought that could be the culprit so I removed PCM and took out the chip and the 'miss' completly stopped. I bought a SCT tuner the other day and programmed it to the performace tune and the random miss is back. I know it could be serveral thing but any help would be very helpful
make sure your contact points are really clean, some here have even glazed the contacts over with fresh solder to make sure they had really good contact.
I talked to one of my buddies that works as a tech for ford and he has a VCM device that we're gonna use this saturday to see if that can help figure out whats goin on.
Just a wild guess me and him came up with, is that since its tryin to make more horsepower and torque from the tune, that its not getting enough fuel to the injectors so it winds up missing like its doing. Any thought on that?
Sorry it takes awhile to reply i usually work during the day and go to another job during the evening and dont get off till midnight so i stay busy lol
