So my 03 with 123000 miles on it has a cracked head. The truck is extremely clean. My question is, is it worth $8000-$9000 to fix? I've been told I'd have no more problems. I'm just wondering people's opinions. Thanks!
I have a 03 ccsd with the 6.0L that has 178000 on it I just had a brake down on the way home from north dakota my self they are telling me I need an engine,or to trade it in on another truck and get maybe $2000.00 toward what I owe $1900.00 yeah right.
I myself am going to keep my old truck buy a new truck and fix the 03 when I can and use it for my work truck again hell I know the 03 I just don't understand what happened to my engine this time as of yet.
So yeah if you know and like it---Fix it
PS.I am going to do my truck right bigger louder faster and of course FORD TOUGH

That price is rediculous. A new head from ford is around 800. Then, if you don't do your own work,, there are numerous shops that do head gaskets for around $3k. So that's way below that quote you got. But, if you do it yourself,,,, you could get out for prob less than $2k.
I should've specified that price is including injectors and a turbo rebuild. Still a ton of money to spend even on a truck I really like. I'd love to do the work myself but I have no way to pull the cab. I'm really just wondering if doing all this will get rid of the 6.0 problems or will I have to worry about it every time I drive it.
Well it's six of one half a dozen of the other,
If you like the truck then do it,if not sell it and buy something else in my 48 years on this earth Everything breaks down and every brand of truck's.
Me I am a Fordaholic I love my Ford's my wife love's her chevy's but drive's my dad's ol 98 5.4 225000 mile's and still a great truck .......Good girl.
Now my 03 CCSD is broke down right now but I ain't letting go just getting a new one to drive while I fix the 03 then park the new one in the driveway and use my 03 for work after the repair's are done and the improvement's are made.
So it's all up to you but I would stick with the Ford
You do not have to pull the cab to change the heads. It really is not that hard to do. I did the top end on mine and did all the recommended upgrades, had the heads completely gone through which was about 1k(surfaced, hardened seats, etc) and the total cost was 4300.00
