when rebuilding my engine i thougth i would put the camshaft in first then do the crank and pistons and all that but my friend when they rebuilt there they put the crank and pistons in first then the cam which by the looks it would be way harder to put the cam in after the crank and pistons but maybe you have to do it that way? plz help me out ..kevin

It's easier to install the cam before the crank is installed. If there is any problem getting the cam in, the cam bearings can be scraped a little ( sometimes the cam bearings might be a little tight and need some work ).

I put the cam in first.

With the bottom end still out and the motor up-side down on your stand, it allows to reach in there and help the cam through the cam bearings a bit and not bang them ( cam bearings ) up.
