No power or acceleration

I recently purchased an 88 f150 with a 302 automatic 4 wheel drive everything works fine on it except it is lacking a lot of power it takes a long time to get up to speed I tuned it up ( cap plugs wires n pcv valve ) barely helped any. Any thoughts on how to get power back

Check the timing and change the air filter too. Changing the fuel filter on mine helped a lot.

Also may help to know what size tires you have on it and what gear ratio the truck has.

I would guess filters (air and fuel) would help alot. If the air filter gets clogged your motor won't get the air it needs. resulting in overall boggyness. Plugged fuel filter, of course, means your motor isn't getting the fuel it needs.

Check the rear axle code for gearing if you can.

Did you pull the spout plug to disable computer advance before setting the distributor? If not the timing is now WAY retarded from where it needs to be.
