ok i got it identified, got the parts i needed but i have another question, how do you suggest i get it up in the truck, i dont have a trany jack, and they weigh 145 lbs. and suggestions would be appreciated
Eat lots of Wheaties!! No, seriously, this is not only a heavy tranny, but it's pretty tall as trannys go. If you've been thinking about trying to use a standard hydralic jack with the little lift plate, even if you try to chain or tie it down somehow, and particulary if your working alone.....don't do it!
I can almost gurantee it will try to fall over sideways. I tried it and am speaking from experience. So what to do?
Unless you're living way out in the sticks, see if you have a tool rental shop in town. They almost always have tranny jacks. Some auto parts houses will rent them too. Tranny jacks have a cradle that holds the tranny steady (and the better one's will allow you to tilt it as well.
Also, when you get the shaft mated with the clutch disk hub, DON'T let the weight of the tranny hang off the clutch at all before you get the case bolted to the bellhousing! That tranny's weight can bend a clutch disk.
hey i found a good why to do it by your self, put a thick steal bar from the dash to the back of the bench and rig up a come-a-long, put the cables on the in put and out put shafts and winch a way, it worked really good.
