99 F250 5.4 cylinder head problem

I have a 99 f250 5.4 that im replacing the head on. But i cant find a head with the correct casting number. Mine is RF-2L1E-6090-c22c. How much does the casting number matter? Any advice on finding a head?

you're on a fence based on your vintage. 99' is the year that ford went to what they call "PI" heads. Which stands for Performance Improved or Power Increased, heads, or something along those lines. With the F250 might have taken longer to get them, IDK, where as, the f150 had them sooner.

Like the link below, IF you have higher miles on this engine then it might be wise to get both heads refreshed. I would try to find a head from later vintage of this generation 2004 preferably with a 5.4 2v...thicker spark plug threads...but 02' & 03' would be a good choice too, they just won't have the thicker spark plug threads

search is your friend here....found this https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...der-heads.html

It is a P.I. and the truck has fairly low miles. So im wondering if i can just toss another P.I. head on there with a different cast number. Are the cast numbers that important?

yes, according to the link in the earlier post, that is all you need, just make sure that you get same number of valve/cam cover bolt holes....if you need more assurances, take your original casting number and paste it into goggle search yourself
