id love to degrease/clean my engine, i have some of that engine degreaser thats in the spray cans, my question is, what do i have to look out for when spraying it on my engine, and rinsing it off with water i.e what electrical stuff do i need to cover up and how? and if theres anything else i need to be aware of before doing this, please let me know, i cant afford to have water screw anything up, as this truck is my daily driver, btw its a 1982 f150 with the 300 inline 6
Hehehe
I did that exact thing today. Took off air filter, grabbed a couple produce bags and put over carb, thats all. I sprayed all over, including tranny and x-case. I then got the hose and sprayed the heck out of everything. Then went to fire her up....and it would start...hehe I get a towel and take a look around. I dried all the wires from coil and the dist. cap. Tried to fire aghain and wouldnt run. It wanted to..but just couldnt quite do it.
I looked around engine again..and thought sh!? i sprayed water down the oil fill hole.... IM AN IDIOT. About five mins later it fired rite up. I dont think i got any water down there though.
and the engine is alot cleaner
I wash my engine every time I wash the truck. I don't cover anything. Spray it and go. Never had any problems. The Owners manual says you should cover the EDIS, MAF, and the computer. I think that is more of a liabilty against the stupid than a required action. "Hey Billy Bob, lets clean the EDIS with the pressure washer."
