I'm getting ready to take the 302 out of my 93 full-size Bronco and replace it with a 351W. I just got the new (remanufactured) long block and I'm starting to install parts onto it. I just noticed a hole in the lifter gallery that doesn't look like it's supposed to be there. Please look at the pictures of the hole I put in my gallery:
The hole is very irregular in shape and it passes through from the lifter gallery into the cavity where the distributor shaft passes through. Even if it's not supposed to be there, I can't really think of any problems that it would cause. If anyone knows if this hole is supposed to be there, or if they can think of any problems this hole could cause, I'd appreciate some input. Thanks.
