I have an 03 F450 wrecker that has some serious egr problems, and now the oil cooler is now leaking oil. What it the best egr delete kit to get for the money that includes the oil cooler? This truck has been nothing but a pain in my *** since i started working with this company. Any tips or suggestions?
Tampering with the emission controls is a federal offense. Your state may check for the EGR cooler when you go in for an emissions test, either now or in the future.
That being said there are a number of good kits out there. Someone will chime in with their favorite!
You don't today but that can change. You may also have to sell privately if a dealer notices it's been modified. Just giving my reasons for staying stock.
When you do an EGR delete it's good practice to change the oil cooler also. But, the oil cooler is completely enclosed in the oil cooler housing so if it leaks you have oil in the coolant. If your seeing oil on top of the engine somthing else is leaking. If there is oil in the coolant it makes ALOT more work and expense.
I took the truck by our diesel mechanics shop the other day and had him look at it because i thought it might have been the ICP sensor leaking again, but he said the oil cooler is leaking. He said they can leak two ways, in or out, right now he said it leaking out and said we need to fix it before it leaks in. We have had that leak in before and yes i agree is was a pain in the ***. I have been trying to get my boss to get the delete kit for some time now, I am tired of replacing injectors in this thing. Our diesel mechanic taught me how to replace the injectors so I have replaced close to 30 injectors, then we replaced the motor. Now the truck is acting up again, blowing out white smoke, which i know is usually always water, and it also spits sputters pops and backfires every once in a while. If this truck breaks down again (keep in mind it has broke down 8 times in three months previously) my boss is going to have a very pissed off driver and i will walk away from the company. I need this fixed but need to know what the best kit is for the money.

Go find somebody who knows what the heck they are doing. It sounds like everybody who has touched this truck hasn't the foggiest idea what is going on...
yeah thirty injectors before we replaced the motor, since then none. But we didnt do the egr delete, and we tried and tried to get my boss to do it. Now we are having problems. There are seven codes, one or two for the egr, and three glow plug codes, and i dont remember the others.
I hear that at $300 per injector. I replaced them once then replaced under warranty, then a few random ones replaced under warranty. Unfortuantely we couldnt warranty labor lol. After doing so many, I can say its easy to replace them, i dont like to, but i can. This truck has one more part in the way that makes things kinda tricky when it comes to replacing injectors. I have a PTO pump in the way, and its heavy. Also it kinda hurts when it falls on your hand.
