My boss' IDI dump has long had a couple teeth off the flywheel and its progressively gotten worse. The starter is new. Last couple days I'd have to crank the motor by hand to get it to bite, but now it's too big of a gap to make up. So, do all year 7.3's work?
I am not sure but I do know that the IDI Torque convertor has 4 bolts compared to the PSD having 6 ...so I would guess the IDI flywheel is different than the PSD.....Like I said it is only a guess....

NO. They are both 10 bolt BUT different patterns. You need one from an IDI

I originally lashed out on mike on this one, but then I noticed it was Todd who muffed it up.
He was probably talking about the gear that the starter engages?
Im not sure the correct terminology of that on autos either...Flexplate?
Edit: Thanks Mike for the confirmation.. I was googling it quick since i wasnt sure either. I understood what you were talkin about tho Todd. Officla names just throw a chicken wrench in it sometimes.
Seems funny auto parts sites would list them otherwise.
Seeing as there is no mass, it's not a flywheel.
But then again, it's good to know what your getting, cause you'll really feel like a herpderp if you show up at home with a real flywheel for our trucks and gotta go back to the store to get a flexplate.
