Rear tank pump
I have a 1990 cargo van with dual tanks. A 302 with automatic OD tranny. This past summer with the help of a few great people here, I was able to totally rebuild and put back to OEM stock my entire fuel system including both tank pumps, selector valve, tank selector switch, electrical grounds, and a couple fuel lines. Then after that I put a PIP sensor into my distributor as well. The van has been running great ever since. Both tanks have been working flawlessly as well as the gauge when each tank is selected.
Question: Just the other day I switched to the rear tank and can now hear the rear tank pump buzzing away. Its loud enough to hear all the way in the front in the drivers seat thru my new 1/8" steel floor while the van is running. The van runs fine on that tank and the gauge registers correctly when that tank is selected also. When I switch to the front, that tank pump is quiet and that tank and gauge works fine also. Why would the rear tank pump be buzzing like that and the front not. I have like a 1/2 tank of fuel in the rear and only a 1/4 tank in the front. I would think if I am going to hear anything it would be on the more empty tank, not the fuller one.
Thanks
Sid
