I've got a 99 f250 SD w/ 63k miles. I have 2 problems with it right now:
First - The passenger side window quit working today. I'm thinking there may be some kind of temerature sensitive circuit breaker on the motor since there is no specific fuse for that window. Is this correct or is there something else simple that may fix the problem without replacing the motor?
Second - When I make sharp turns at low speeds (i.e. in parking lots) I get a loud klunking noise from the front of the truck. Sounds like the lugnuts are loose and the wheel is banging around but I know that is not the problem.
My passenger window is doing the same thing. On hot afternoons, I'll hop in my truck and the window won't go down. It works fine in the morning and at night. After driving for awhile w/ the AC on, it works again. I've also noticed that if I hit a hard bump, the window will often begin working. I'm at a loss, I've taken the dang thing apart and checked the connections, and it still does it. Pretty frustrating......
Last night I tried pulling the door panel (unsuccessfully) the nbanged on the panel a little to reseat it. This morning I started up and the window worked fine! Imagine that.
I checked the hubs about a month ago and found that someone had locked the right one. I set it back to auto and have been checking them ever since. However, you are absolutely right -- The klunking noise sounds exactly like I am in 4wd on hard pavement.
Is it possible for the right wheel wheel hub to be damaged, from when it was locked, to the point where it may still be in 4wd even when the hub is set to auto?
