Over the weekend i let my 94 f-150 sit from friday night to sunday afternoon, the weather was misty, wet and just plain dank. When i started it up everything seemed fine but when i put my foot down it started running real rough, like it was missing. It did this for about 5 minutes, but after it warmed up it ran like a top. Now that it has dried up some it doesn't do it anymore. What could this be?
Buy a new cap and rotor. While you're at it, put a light dab of dielectric grease on each contact of the cap and the plug ends. A small crack can be tough to see, but will cause lots of rainy headaches. - usually real tough to start.
1) Dist cap - They seem to collect a thin film of oil inside after a while, and when the weather is wet, it will draw moisture like a magnet, causing it to break down.
2) Plug wires get pourous with age and dry out. They are another magnet for moisture.
Replacement of both of the above items will usually cure your problems.
