I will its prob gonna take along time to finish cause im one of those do it right kinda people...if I cant ill find someone who can...but I think iv decided to go 4x4 cause its so handy and I just don't know if I could go back to a 2wd, had one first 5 years of driving life and my 4x4 is awesome. ill prob ask question as I go cause the oldest thing iv ever truly fixed or worked on was a 92 F150 so im a lil out my area on this...
Well I got my truck this week...finally got my money right and a trailer. But i have decided to keep it a gas burner because it wont be driven alot. Will put pictures in my gallery.
Well idk i think i might try to find her a smaller truck or i may just give her my F250...but i havent decided yet...figured ill build it first and see if she even wants it by then. But im focusin on my 97 right now cause im having a problem getting a frame built for it because i cant find a donor in the area.
IMO: the new stuff, lets one "think they can drive worth a darn". Getting a feel for the old school stuff makes folks get a sense of reality imo. People misjudge their driving skills, that of others and present (as of the moment) regardless of maintenance schedules, known issues, bla bla ... status of their own vehicle ability to perform as expected. I'd get the rig roadworthy and let her get a feel for things. Then invest the time in a restomod. Nothing is more restraining than the sense of second guessing every move. And in a new sporty, mobile... they just take too much for granted in imo. "Learn to drive", then enjoy the improvements made over the years...jm2¢
That's how I was raised got one car and traded and add money to them tell I now have 3 trucks and all are in good condition and I wouldn't take what they are worth for any of mine I have worked on all of them many times with little or no help. All these kids in collage are buying new trucks tearing them up with out a care because of a warranty well they will get there end when that new truck brakes a week out of warranty, and no new truck is as cool as a classic. It will be hard for you to give your build to your daughter but if you ever sell it make sure to as if they want it first my dad sold my 71 and it was out of the family for 5 years and I got it back all beat to hell but it was my favorite back then and it still is to day.
ok well i was raised driving an 83 dodge ram lwb with no powersteering...granted everything else has been newer but this isnt bout my driving skills...
Where is a good place to find a dana 44 axle? Idc where it is as long as its a good price. I can rebuild it if need be for cost but im having trouble finding one. And also a np205 transfer case...decided to go gas burner...a 351c stroker with a e4od transmission. Or do u know of a better transmission?
Yea...thats one thing i was trying to avoid but im unfamiliar with older transmissions...is there a sturdy older transmission that i could use instead? Im trying to avoid any computerized things but if i have to ill use a e4od just because i know its a good transmission that will bolt to a variety of ford motors.
I am thinking of buying a 1969 F100 swb and I am wondering what kind of front and rear end I could put under it because the truck is poorly kept and I don't think the driving system can be saved. Let me know something cause I am new to these older trucks but always wanted one.
If you want easy I have a 1971 F100, s.b.,302, 4x2 parts truck with a 9" rear if you are close to Arizona. Note, a 351W will bolt right in to a truck that has 302 motor mount stands.
