I have a 1965 F-100 step-side (3rd owner!) and it's got a 302 out of a 1974 Econoline 300 van. I've been wondering for some time now, when I'm researching parts on the internet, or giving someone over the counter my engine specs, do I need to mention that it's from an E300? Is the engine exactly the same as say the F100's 302 from '74?
I ask because, specifically online, it seems that some of the sites take into consideration the smaller size of the engine compartment in the E300. I know that my dipstick is odd being that it was originally in a van (was super long until I had it cut down..)
So what's the deal? Is the 302 the same across all models in 1974?
Stock 302s are all pretty well the same accept the exterior parts may be different from one chassis to another one. Such as your dip stick, maybe oil pan, throttle link or cable, carb., fuel pump , Exhaust manifolds , ect. Not all different but possibility of some parts. You just have to change the parts that won't fit your situation.
I have an 85 in a 73 and i used the fuel pump with the filter on it , all of them don't have it.
