Im new here, as I have just recently gotten a Ford pickup. I got it from my grandpa in AK. The truck is an 89 f250 and its a diesel.
Im sure this question has been beat to death, but i couldnt find a definite answer: is a 4x4 conversion on this truck all bolt on? or will it require fab work... most would say that it isnt worth the work but this truck is kinda sentimental to me and i want to keep it. any info helps, thanks
Best way to do it is to buy a donor 4x4 f250 of similar year, engine and transmission. Also good if you get one in the same setup, as in regular cab longbed ect. If you get that, it will be basically a strait bolt in job. Just transfer over the front end, transmission, transfercase and driveshafts.
it is not a "bolt in" deal. your 2wheel drive has coil springs, the 4 wheel drive uses leaf springs. you will have to fabricate spring hangers and beef up the front frame section.
