I just obtained a 92 4x4 from a wholesaler. The rims on the vehicle are not stock and have a keyed plate to access the lug nuts. Of course I didn't notice that there was no key so I cannot take off the wheels and tires. I am trying to identify the rims but am having troubles. I thought I might post the question here to try to identify the manufacturer so I could obtain a key directly from them. Anyway, on the center cap (rear wheels) are the letters "AR". I immediately thought of American Racing, but I don't think that is correct as they usually spell out their full name on the center caps. Anyone have an idea? TIA. Jim B.
Wow that's weird. I was there yesterday but now I can't get back to the site. I think maybe it's too busy
Anyway just do a search for "ar wheels." That's what I did. You should get a link to their web page. I just did it and it was the first and third link that came up but I couldn't get it to work from there either.
OK, the link works now. It must have just been busy. However, I think these wheels are WAYYYY too high-end. I probably have cheap Pep-Boys knockoffs that are also called "AR". Bummer, I'll just have to keep looking.
Basically, I am looking for the "key" to take off the plate over the lug nuts. Where can I get a set of "standard" keys? Ideas?
Here is a pic of the rim. It is remarkably similar to the American Racing model AR-23. Of course, this one has a keyed cover over the lug nuts. Hope the pic helps jog someone's memory. Thanks again. Jim B.
Not sure about this image posting. Don't have much hope that it'll work... Here goes...
There are other ways but the only one my computer ignorant a** knows of is to put them in your gallery. Then click on the pic in your gallery and click on where it says "forum codes" under it and it will pop up a window with a message in it that you copy and paste in your post and the pic is in it's place.
Don't think so. On American Racing rims, they usually spell out the name "American Racing" and not just "AR". However, I have no idea how OLD these rims are. The truck is a 92.
I believe the wheels are from American Racing, but the center cap locks appear to be manufactured by McGard. You can probably get the key you need from them. Their web address is www.mcgard.com. Hope this helps.
