new truck

Hey Guys,
It's my first time here, just looking for some help. I'm looking at a 1996 Ford F-250... and was wondering if anyone had any information for me on what I should know or look out for when planning to get this truck. If anyone knows of any recalls or anything, it would be great. Hope to hear from you soon. I would appreciate the help.

Good truck. Watch for rush on the rear fender wheels, bring a magnet and a cloth or tissue. Use the magnet around the bottom of the truck and in prone rust spots to check for bondo. Use the tissue so you don't scratch the paint. Wouldn't be a bad idea to take it to a mechanic if you are seriously interested in buying the truck.

drive it and observe its behavior when shifting into overdrive. If it shudders a bit, the transmission will be needing work in the near future.

open the hood and check for typical oil leaks.

If you are planning on purchasing, get a check on each cylinder's compression.

or at the very least pull the plugs and inspect them, for any telltale signs of ring wear.

Check out the oil pan for rust (they rust out.. totally goofy if you ask me, but it's common)

Check the heater controls (make sure hot air blows outta the heater)

That's all that's wrong with my truck, so I guess I don't have anything else for you.

Repairs are straightforward for the most part. I like mine so far.
