Partial standpipe pic

My truck is an 04 with a build date of 1/04. I am in the process of replacing my HPOP and IPR and decided to go in and install the upgraded standpipes. I couldn't get them all out, only the top part came out. I know I have to remove the rail to get the rest but from the part I see, it is completely different than what I have seen online from various posts. Because of this I have yet to remove the oil rail. The end caps are square 1/2'' drive, not the 10 hex. Do I have odd ball standpipes? Should I even bother upgrading as my model year did not have the problems of the 05-07 regarding standpipes?

You are correct. You have the late '04/early '05 style standpipe and dummy rail plug combo that is NOT prone to failure. Not like the late '05 and up style that have a much higher propensity for failure. As far as whether to upgrade to the updated style with the white teflon rings or not, that's entirely up to you.

Thanks, once again you are a wealth of information! The orings look good, so I'll just slap these back on and call it a day.
