Engine identification casting numbers

I am in the process of restoring a 69 4x4 short box. It originally came with a straight 6 and currently has one, but I doubt the engine is original. Anyone know where I can cross reference the motor's serial number and find out what year the motor is? I think the serial number is CBAE-6015-D, but the B maybe a 6 or 8. I need to do a lot more cleaning before I can be sure.

Engine identification casting numbers

CBAE-6015-D,

The B is an 8
This is the basic design number.

This number is the engine block.
It was designed for a Large ford car in 1968 with the 3rd change-up done to it.

The 1st design would have been C8AE-6015-A

There should be some other Cast numbers Maximum 4 digits between two *

ie: * 8L21 *

Which means it was cast on December 21 1968
