E4OD from my 96 Powerstroke (fully functional)

Category: Accessories
Price: $800
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (you may select multiples): S2000
Item Condition: PA
Engine: Part suitable for gas truck, Part suitable for diesel truck

I'll be pulling the E4OD out of my 96 F250 Powerstroke 4x4. Nothing wrong with it, i would just prefer a manual trans and will be doing the E4OD to ZF5 swap in the coming months.

So, the opportunity right now - if you live close enough - is to come test drive the transmission while its still in my truck. then, once i pull it out, you can come buy it, or i can deliver it to you (for a fee).

Its a Jasper rebuild with ~15k miles on it. the previous owner installed it, so i don't have the paperwork for it, but it does have the jasper sticker and serial number on it, so its traceable. let me know if you want the info. ...tried to learn to like the automatic, but after 2 years of trying, i'd still rather shift the gears myself...

i'll be posting this again once i pull it out, but i figure there's nothing like seeing/feeling a transmission in action to verify its function.

Asking $850 OBO.

tranfer case not included

i imagine it would fit between the body and frame, as they are the same between out trucks - at least in the area of the transmission - but you'd have to have a diesel or big block 460 motor in your bronco already for it to bolt up to the engine.

and being that the trans is electronic shift, you'd probably have some wiring to do - assuming you have a computer controlling your drivetrain already.

i can give you as much of the wiring from my truck as i don't need with the manual tranny, but i won't know how much that'll be until i get to work.

as for shipping - i have no idea of what freight costs would be...

and as it doesnt seem you'll be out my way for a test drive before the trans comes out, i can just contact you back once i have it out to see if you're still interested.

I've been told by a few transmission shops that the E4OD transmissions are not interchangeable between the powerstrokes and the 460's as the bell housing bolt patterns are different. I've also found this mentioned online as well. Just a FYI.

yes, that is correct - sort of. from my research on the zf5 transmission, the powerstroke and 460 bellhousings are the same size and shape, but have their alignment studs and bolt bosses in different spots. a little drilling and stud-moving though and a 460 tranny can be made to work on a powerstroke, or vice versa.

however, i can't guaruntee this is the case with the E4OD. also, i think the bigger issue is having a computer in the truck its going into that can control the solenoids to shift the gears - since it is an electronic transmission...

definitely some research needed (and probably a good bit of work) to make it work with a 460, but i believe it is possible.
