Hi, Just a quick introduction. I'm located in Brisbane, Australia and have recently commenced the restoration of a 1942 Ford 158" wheelbase stakeside truck - model 218TF. (The 'F' stands for foreign - right hand drive). The model 218TF was supplied to Australia during WW2 as 'lend-lease' material from the U.S.A. in 'knocked down form'. The trucks were assembled in various Ford assembly plants in Australia and sold through Ford Dealers to farmers and other essential services. The majority of Australian Ford vehicles prior to that time were of Canadian origin and a 1942 -1947 Ford truck manufactured in Australia using Canadian components is quite different from those imported from the U.S.A.
My restoration project started its working life in 1944 being sold through a Ford Dealer in Toowoomba, Queensland. It remained in the original family for many years and I was fortunate to buy it in 1990. It has been kept in storage until recent times when a full restoration started.
I'm looking forward to following other Member's "Jailbar" projects and hope to learn a little more through this forum as my project moves ahead.
