'99 explorer v6 engine crankshaft

'99 explorer v6 engine crankshaft
I need some help dealing with Ford.
We have a '99 v-6 auto explorer, with 2 yrs of unresolved hesitation problems, mass flow, catalytic coverter, computer codes all check ok.
Now we are told the crankshaft is "whobbly" and the engine needs to be rebuilt !
Has anyone had a similar problem with this engine and did they get any satisfaction from Ford ?
Engine has 60k miles and is only used as a family vehicle, no heavy duty use.
