Hello, I have an 89 F250 light duty inline 6 cyl. I have been experiencing spongy brakes since I bought it 6months ago. Shortly after I bought it I replaced the rear shoes, hardware and E brake cables. They were really worn(down to metal). Had drums turned as well. Front pads were in good shape. Bled entire system and seems fine for a few days and then pedal is spongy and slowly goes to floor. When you pump the pedal it tends to have a better pedal feel.
I next tried the master cylinder, removed it and cleaned it out. Bench bled it and installed. No difference. Tried bleeding the master on the vehicle by opening the brake lines at the cylinder. No difference.
Bought a new master, bench bled, installed, bled entire system, no difference. There was alot of air coming from the rear wheels. I poured two bottles of brake fluid thru the system trying to bleed of all the air. Somehow the air is coming back after a couple of days.
Can there be that much air trapped in the system or maybe some pin holes in the line somewhere. I do not see and fresh fluid leaking anywhere along the system. Maybe the rear wheel cylinders need replacing?
