I found a nice looking FX4 with 56,000 miles on it. (According to the ad). The dealership was closed. BUT, the silver "button", on top of the floor console shifter handle was gone.
Is this a common thing, or was it abused?
I know it don't sound like much, but from what I could see through the dark tinted window, it looks like it just "snaps", "pops" into the handle.
Mine came loose around the same mileage due to resting my arm on it constantly. It has three or four small tabs that hold it in place. I checked on a new top cover and they are not available without replacing the whole shift handle assembly per my local stealership........so I glued mine back on.
If I need to ever do anything to get it back off later I will just have to break it or try to pry it off again.
It is uncomfortable on your arm and if you are going to buy it make them replace it.....
those shifters are just stupid in the first place idk why ford felt the need to put it on the floor its a truck not a car plus it gets in the way of the cup holders .. stupid design .. its whats keeping me from buying the f140.. most of them in my price range have that stupid thing
