I want to put at least a 3" lift kit on my 2001 F150. It is a 2WD. I do not plan on doing any off-roading with it, it's just for looks. Can anyone tell me what is the cheapest, and safest way to do this? Thanks for your help.
It sounds like you’d want a body lift. It is the cheapest way to clear bigger tires. The kit it self cost about $300, the install will cost you another $300-$400 depending on where you go. I’d have it professionally installed, unless you know someone that has done it before. Also everything will line up properly, I’ve seen people that installed body lift kits themselves and it looks good but there’s always something that doesn’t line up correctly. The body lift on mine lines up perfectly. Keep us posted.
I have seen some lift kits for around $100 to $150, are these not good kits? I planned on installing the kit myself, so I will save my self a lot of money there. I jsut wasn't sure what kind I should get. I would be happy with a stock 4X4 look. Do you know how much taller a stock 4X4 is compared to a 4X2?
dude, deal with the fact that for looks alone, a body lift is the way to go...... seems like youve got personal issues with body lifts... keep that negativity off the board if all your gonna do is flame a body lift for the sole fact that you think your better than everyone because you have a suspension lift.
Hey bronco your attitude SUCKS.keep all your negativity to yourself,, I also have a 3" body lift,,not because i dont have the money but because i didnt want to spend the money on suspension,,some of us doesnt realy off road much so face the facts there are lots of reasons for not getting a suspension lift, And like someone said you must have a personal problem with body lifts so go get help with that issue but not here!
I went the suspension route with my truck which is a 95 2wd. I went this route cuz I was told it's a better way, which I presume it is. The thing I also like about going this route is that your getting new shocks all the way around, new coil springs and you get a nice alignment all in the process. I don't wanna spend x amount of dollars on a body lift then if my shocks go back have to replace them down the road. I'm the type of person that likes to do things one time around and not have to worry about it.
I picked up an entire suspension lift for 600 bucks and maybe another 500 or so to get it installed so for 1100 I've got a nice looking truck that's good to go.
If you got the budget do it the best way possible.
