Ok I am sure this has been talked about but I am un able to find a lot of info. I was wondering what shocks ya'll use? What is the best for the money? I am getting ready to order my Skyjacker lift kit and I'm not sure about the ones that come with the lift. Let mek now waht ya'll think.
I went with the SJ lift and used their #s to match up with a set of bilstien shocks, purchased through shock warehouse in florida with much thanks through HIO silver for the lead. I had bilstien on my deisel ranger so I knew that was the direction i was going with shocks

Tim,
If you are looking any lifted shock I would go with a bilstein for sure. They have been on top of the lifted truck game for a long time. They will give you that nice highway ride and still be able to take whatever you throw at them. Let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the info. I will check out bilstein but the way it looks I will have to wait until I get the lift installed according to the shockwarehouse. or see if i can get the specs of the shocks from skyjacker that come with the lift and see what happens. I just cant beleive the price on those things. whole cow!!!

Whole cow? Half cow? Holy cow!
There is a price associated with high-quality equipment. Plus Bilsteins come with a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser. I got a new set for my 190K miles super-commuter (an 85 VW GTI) before I gave it to my nephew who is now terrorizing the streets and autocross courses in Southern California.
I run 'em in my 01 S'Crew, 68 'Stang and 71 Pontiac (with a full Hotchkis TVS). Love 'em.
I don't like bilsteins for regular off road work. they tend to be stiffer than regular $30 offroad shocks. Unless you are gonna be doing high speed highway stuff or high speed desert stuff the cheaper shocks actually work better on most low to medium stuff off road with lifted springs. Plus if you take your truck out and beat it up you won't cry when you dent or scratch or pierce one of the shocks on a log or a rock.
If you are going lifted I would advise going with a rear shock with an offset lower mount just to make things easier.
