Hey guys I want to convert my keyed ignition in my 79 to a push button ignition with accessory toggles I have a wiring diagram just wondering if any one here has done such thing and can give me some insight or even point me in the direction of a good wright up??? Thanks in advance HA HA I will be standing by for the expertise that follows
just run a wire from hot side of nutral saftey switch to one side of the button and run the other one to the s terminal on the solenoid.
dont go right off the battery. it will start in gear and could cause someone to get hurt.
I did a search for pushbutton starter wiring and saw one that used a Honda 2000 pushbutton starter assembly, I can't find the link I used but it was an easy afternoon project. It slips into the lighter assembly has been trouble free for years.
Hey thanks guys I went and bought switches today gonna tackle that tomorrow (hopefully) by the way that Black truck is awesome! That is exactly the kind of truck that inspired me to get my own
Quick question tho... Did using the 2000 Honda system completely do away with the keyed switch? Or just make it able to start with the button? I really want to do away with the ignition switch all together
I left the key in place for a measure of security, you have the acc. position and on but when turned to start nothing happens. When palced in ON you hit the starter button (also tied into the neutral switch). Hope that helps. I saw lots of tech articles looking around last night and a number of youtube videos showing installs, not enough hours in the day to read everything avialable
