installed elect ignition
This is a brief outline of what I had to do to my truck since it quit running about 6 weeks ago: put a new starter solenoid in, rebuild the starter, put a new coil on, I bought a new dist. cap and now replaced the points with the Hot-spark ignition. I still need to set the timing. I got a timing light from the garage that services our car and does the state inspection.
The only problem is that it is idling too fast. Will that fix itself when I time it or do I have to turn down the idling at the carb?
Dumb question here: I am a newbie for this modern a truck... what screw or where do I turn down the idle on these truck? I wasn't sure. The carb and linkage is a lot different than my 54 F-100.
Thanks for all your help!
PS: I like it so much I am going to buy an electronic ignition for my 54 F-100 6 volt Pos ground. Pertronix is the only one I have seen selling them and they are a more expensive for a 6 volt so It will need to wait a while...

After going electronic, the idle speed tends to increase due to improved efficiency. I assume ya got a 2100 on yer rig so the idle speed is adjusted with the screw on the left side of the carb on the linkage. However, ya might wanna break out your vacuum gauge and re-tune the carb consider you new-found improvement.
