idle problems
Im kinda new to this but perhaps somebody can help. I have a bronco a 300 6cyl. It will idle well and then it will go up and down between 400 and 1000 rpm. When starting sometime it will start right up and other times I have to crank on it and pump the gas a little. (strange for efi)

Not at all strange depending upon where the problem lies. If you're 300 is fuel injected, I will assume you're Bronco is 1987 or newer. If so, then the first thing to do is to run the two self-test diagnostics tests. The KOEO (Key On Engine Off) and KOER (Key On Engine Running) tests will help pinpoint the problem much more readily that chasing things that "could be" the problem. Check this site for details about administering both tests. Older Haynes manuals detail the procedures as well. Once you have run the tests you can post the Codes you get here and we can advise on troubleshooting each one specifically. You can get basic meanings for each Code all over the place but for actual procedures for rectifying the problems, I dare say this forum is probably your best bet.
