I installled an AOD behind my 302 and just drove it around the block for the first time. The tranny is not getting out of first gear. I have not fully adjusted the Kickdown Rod, but does anyone have any possible causes or troubleshooting tips?
As far as I know, the TV cable (I think that's what it's called) needs to be properly adjusted so the AOD work properly. I've heard you can ruin it by driving it with the cable misadjusted.
I have a C4 with the same symptom you described. I think mine has a bad governor...
Check these links out, maybe they will help you with the cable adjustments...

"How do I set the TV cable and what does it do?
The TV cable on modern transmissions sets the fluid pressure to correspond with the throttle position. You can never operate a transmission designed for a TV cable without one. The fluid pressure would be so low you would burn up the bands and clutches at once. Early automatic transmissions used a vacuum modulator to set fluid pressure. The latest transmissions use the vehicle's computer to set the fluid pressure as well as shift points.
