Starter problems
'85 F350 6.9l 4sp
Hey guys,
Been having trouble with burning out starter and solenoids lately. This last one one was a Napa Starter and solenoid. I have probably replaced 3 solenoids and 2 relays on the fender in the past 2 months. My problem is the wiring has been mutilated by previous owners and I'm at a loss as to what can be causing this. I have done so much reading my eyes are blurry.
I recently changed the motor out to a 7.3 but I was having this problem beforehand.
A list of things done today
1) New Batteries
2) New Alternator
3) New Voltage regulator
4) New Grounds
5) New glow plugs (beru)
6) Rewired a few other things where wires looked bad
One question I have is does the wire that comes from the alternator
( battery terminal Post ) go to the voltage regulator ( A Post ) and the positive side of the battery or just to the VR ?

Well I finally found the problem. Apparently the ignition has been slightly sticking causing the relay to stay on thus burning solenoids and starters up. I couldn't hear solenoid sticking cuz of the diesel.
Think I might just wire a momentary switch on the dash and be done with it
