A word of warning regarding the 97+ trucks; The engine is halfway under the cowl, so that complicates things. Also watch out for the famous "spark plug blow out" that has a tendency to happen. I've driven a Lightning in the past, and it went like a raped ape. Truck mileage on premium fuel sucks though. I'd imagine a 32v 4.6 swap would be do-able, from a Mark VIII, Cobra, etc.

I understand I've herd all about the spark plug issue and I know the engine under the cowl is a pain haha. But I was just wondering how hard it would be to put a lightning motor in a 97 f150 5spd that had a 4.6 originally.

Because in reality I have enough to buy both haha I just don't want both. And if I we're to plow id most likely put a heavier duty suspension and upgrade the trans and rear end alittle to handle lite plowing like a couple drive ways here and there.
i wouldnt say that i got a f150 with a plow so big we have to tilt it to the side to go down the road and it handles it just fine. weight in the back if you want it but it really isnt needed we found

Im sure it does I just wouldn't want to ruin anything haha. Because if I remember correctly ford said if you put a plow on a f150 from 97- whenever they stopped that body style it would void the warranty due to the suspension not being as heavy duty as the 96 and previous. But right now im trying to find out how hard it would be to put a lightning motor in a 97 f150 4.6l 5spd.

Check out the section for the 97+ trucks or a Lightning forum, you'll probably find a wealth of info vs in this section.
