fuel gauge system

So now that I finally got the distributor in and its running okay. I decided to start looking at the gas gauge issues. Flipping the switch does nothing. Im guessing the aux tank is the one in the bed and the suicide tank is the main. Just to get an idea of the float I pulled it and besides being full of fuel i took ohm readings in the full position it was 98 and the bottom 42. I took a measurment off the gauge which is at "E" with no power and it was at 78. Now it is a '69 250 camper special. So the orange wire on the cluster is not used and instead the orange wire from the switch is used. To me it seems like aside from the float it should be working. I zipped tied the float to the full position and checked and still nothing on the gauge. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks, Corey

1967/69's with genuine Ford factory installed 25 gallon auxillary tank: The fuel cap is located above the scallop (bumpside) line, in front of the left rear wheel.

The fuel tank is mounted on the inside of the left (drivers) side frame rail. Inside the bed is a shield that protects the fuel filler tube from possible cargo damage.

The manually operated fuel tank selector valve is located on the floor, adjacent to the drivers side of the seat. Valve only switches the tanks.

The switch is mounted to a bracket that bolts under the dash, to the left of the steering column. Only switches the dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.

The only difference between 1967/69 vs 1970/72: The 1970/72 aux tanks fuel cap is located below the scallop line, in front of the left rear wheel.

Right that all makes sense. Does the system need power in order to work? I would assume it would
